  3. When There Are Different Readings on the Different Balls

  5. If the readings on the different balls are off by different amounts then resetting the drum will not correct all the readings.  This is rare and indicates a defect in the manufacturer of the instrument.

If this does occur, it would be best to reset the drum so that the readings are correct for the center of the range, for example on the 42.50 D. ball.  If you wanted to be exact you can draw a graph of the actual reading on each ball versus what the true reading should be.  The graph could then be used to convert the readings to the true values.
